EXPLANATION OF THE ACTIVITIES WITH STUDENTS

Students had to follow the following steps:

Step 1. Research on the environment.

Each student has to research on the educational and working life of three women in  their families belonging to three generations: their grandmother, mother and themselves (if the student is a boy, a sister, cousin or friend instead)

a) What is their educational level?

b) What is her job?

c) Was that her vocations? If not, What would she have liked to become instead?

d) When she started working, were there any jobs women shouldn’t do? Which? Why?

Step 2. An online presentation.

a) Graphic on the evolution of the level of studies in the three generations.
b) Graphic on the choice of studies accordint to type and gender.
c) Analysis to detect prejudice and stereotypes in gender and working vocation. Is there any historical evolution? Which are the most persistent?
d) Comparison with the general data of the country. In the case of Spain, it can be checked in this link: https://sede.educacion.gob.es/publiventa/d/25710/19/00

Step 3. An advertising campaign.

Preparation of an advertising campaign to promote girls accessing sectors/studies which are usually performed by men.

REPORT ABOUT STUDENT’S FEEDBACKS

All the students enjoyed a lot the activities, specially the first and last. What they found most interesting was:

• Talking to grandmothers or aunts about their jobs and past hopes.
• Some of them had never discussed this kind of topics with them.
• Their relatives gave them advice them about the future.

Finally, The ads campaign was also interesting as they felt they could try to change a reality where women were not equal.
