EXPLANATION OF THE ACTIVITIES WITH STUDENTS

The activity called "Enterpreneurs Interviews" has been held with six students, divided in pairs. The participants did the activity outside the school, interviewing one entrepreneur per group. They had to think about a total of three entrepreneurs in their community and interview them asking about why they established their own business, the difficulties they find everyday managing their activity and the advantages of being self-employed. First of all, they prepared the questions then, after leaving the school, they asked them to the
entrepreneurs. Once back at school, they placed all the answers in some papers that helped them to understand how the life of a self-employed person is.
The first group selected a travel agency in Rome, because tourism is one of the most profitable sectors in the Italian capital. They talked with the owner, who said that he decided to open her business because there wasn’t any other option for her when she was searching for a job in this field. Also, she discussed about the difficulties that she find
normally in everyday life, such as very high italian tax pressure. About the advantages, she explained to the students that being an entrepreneur is nice because she can organize her everyday time schedule and she is responsible for her own objectives.
The second group interviewed the owner of a restaurant, a very common business in Rome. The entrepreneur told to the students that he became self-employed because of his family: before him, the company was runned by his dad, that once retired, gave him the business. In his opinion, the worst part of this job is to get together a high number of employers and make them get along and feel well in the company as a team. On the other side, the good aspect of his business is that he likes to get in touch with lot of different cultures that meet
in Rome.
The third team interviewed a guide that works in the city center of Rome. She works only if tourists want would like to do tours of the city and she is at their complete disposal. She said that she decided to become self-employed after finishing her studies, because she
wanted independence from other people. She underlines this aspect as the best one when you are self-employed. The worst one instead, is that everyday she has to count only on her own energies and efforts.
