EXPLANATION OF THE ACTIVITIES WITH STUDENTS

The activity, called “Pitches”, began by a warmly greeting to the students and introducing the activity of effectively presenting oneself. The teacher asked if the students have had experience introducing themselves in professional settings or job interviews.

The main objective of the lesson was to create a personal pitch, which is a brief introduction that highlights an individual’s strengths and abilities. In each student has given a Personal Pitch worksheet to assess their skills, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and discuss the importance of soft skills such as communication, creativity, and critical thinking in personal and professional development.

The teacher offered various examples of how soft skills can be applied
in different scenarios and encouraged the students to brainstorm ways they can improve their soft skills. To help them understand, the teacher provided them an example of a personal pitch, and then asked the students to create their own using the information gathered from self-assessment and soft skill exercises.

Students were encouraged to practice and present their pitch in front of the class, with the class providing feedback for improvement. At the end, the teacher summarized the key points and reminded to our students that developing their personal pitch is an origin process.

REPORT ABOUT STUDENT’S FEEDBACKS

The students found the activity enjoyable since they rarely get the opportunity to
explore themselves within the school environment. Initially, the reflected on their
own selves, and later, they consulted with their friends, which expanded their
knowledge further.

The students found it easier to identify their weaknesses than
their strengths, which is common during this developmental phase. They required
more encouragement to communicate their strengths with clarity. However, they
showed immense interest in the results obtained from the activity, and although
some results met their expectations, others did not.

Nevertheless, it was a beneficial starting point for discussion, and the students utilized this newfound knowledge to improve their self-presentation skills.
